Who is Roy, and why is there a goat on the website?

Great question! Roy is our All-Purpose Storage mascot, morale booster, and unofficial Head of Herding Things Into Storage. He's not just a goat; he's the heart (and hooves) behind our brand. Roy represents everything we believe in: hard work, practical solutions, a little fun in every project, and never taking ourselves too seriously. You'll spot Roy in our marketing, newsletters, social media posts, and even at trade shows. He helps us tell our story in a way that's memorable and uniquely All-Purpose.

What makes All-Purpose Storage different?

Our team. Every location is backed by real people who care about your experience, your belongings, and your peace of mind. With 78+ facilities across 9 states, we combine the personal touch of a locally managed business with the resources of a growing network. No hidden fees, no long-term contracts, and no corporate runaround.

What size storage unit do I need?

The right size depends on what you're storing. A 5x5 unit works for boxes, seasonal items, and small furniture. A 10x10 unit fits the contents of a one-bedroom apartment. A 10x20 can hold a full house worth of furniture. Visit our size guide for detailed comparisons with visual examples of what fits in each unit size.

How much does a storage unit cost?

Storage unit prices vary by location, size, and features. Smaller units (5x5) typically start at affordable monthly rates, while larger units and climate-controlled options cost more. We offer competitive pricing with no hidden fees. Contact your nearest facility or check availability online for current rates at your location.

Is there a long-term commitment or contract?

No. All-Purpose Storage offers flexible month-to-month leases with no long-term commitment required. You can rent for as long as you need and vacate when you're done. There are no early termination fees or cancellation penalties.

What items can I store in a storage unit?

You can store most household and business items including furniture, appliances, clothing, electronics, sporting equipment, tools, documents, and inventory. Items that are not permitted include hazardous materials, flammable liquids, perishable food, live animals, illegal items, and explosives. If you're unsure about a specific item, contact your local facility.

How secure are your storage facilities?

Security is a top priority at every All-Purpose Storage location. Our facilities feature 24/7 video surveillance, gated access with personal entry codes, well-lit driveways and hallways, and individually alarmed units at select locations. Each tenant receives their own unique access code, and only you have the key to your unit's lock.

What are the access hours?

Access hours vary by location. Many of our facilities offer extended access hours, and some provide 24/7 access for tenants. Office hours for on-site staff are typically during regular business hours. Check with your specific location for exact access times, or call us at (603) 967-4000.

Do you offer climate-controlled storage units?

Yes. Many of our locations offer temperature-controlled storage units that maintain a consistent environment to protect sensitive items like electronics, wooden furniture, artwork, photographs, documents, and musical instruments. Climate-controlled units are available in a range of sizes. Visit our temperature controlled storage page to learn more.

Can I store my vehicle, RV, or boat?

Yes. Many All-Purpose Storage locations offer vehicle storage for cars, motorcycles, RVs, boats, and trailers. Options include covered parking, uncovered parking, and enclosed units depending on the facility. Visit our vehicle storage or RV and boat storage pages for details.

How do I reserve a storage unit?

Reserving a unit is simple. You can reserve online through our website by finding your nearest location and selecting an available unit. You can also call us at (603) 967-4000 to speak with a team member who can help you choose the right size and complete your reservation over the phone.

What payment methods do you accept?

We accept major credit and debit cards, electronic bank transfers, and in many cases cash or money orders at the facility office. Payments can be made online through our tenant portal, by phone, or in person. We also offer autopay for your convenience so you never miss a payment.

Do I need to bring my own lock?

Yes. For your security, you provide your own lock so that only you have the key or combination. We recommend a high-quality disc lock or cylinder lock designed for storage units. Locks are also available for purchase at most of our facility offices.

Can I access my unit on weekends and holidays?

Yes. Tenant access is available on weekends at all locations. Holiday access is available at most facilities, though office staff may not be on-site during major holidays. Your personal access code works during all posted access hours regardless of whether the office is open.

Do you offer drive-up storage units?

Yes. Most All-Purpose Storage locations feature drive-up accessible units, which allow you to pull your vehicle right up to the door of your unit for easy loading and unloading. This is especially convenient for heavy items, furniture, and frequent access. Learn more on our drive-up storage page.

Is insurance required for my stored items?

While not always mandatory, we strongly recommend protecting your belongings with storage insurance or a tenant protection plan. Your homeowner's or renter's insurance policy may provide some coverage for items in storage. Check with your insurance provider, and ask our staff about available protection plans at your location.

Can I change my unit size after moving in?

Yes. If you find you need more or less space, we can help you transfer to a different-sized unit at your location, subject to availability. There is no penalty for switching units. Contact your facility manager to discuss your options.

Can I move in the same day I rent?

In most cases, yes. You can reserve a unit online and move in the same day. Simply complete your reservation, sign the lease agreement, and you can begin using your unit right away. Some paperwork may need to be completed on-site during office hours.

What's the move-out process?

Moving out is easy. Remove all your belongings from the unit, sweep it out, remove your lock, and notify the facility manager or complete the move-out process online through your tenant portal. There are no early termination fees, and your lease simply ends at the close of your current billing period.

Who has access to my storage unit?

Only you and anyone you authorize. Each tenant receives a unique personal access code for the gate. Only you hold the key or combination to your individual unit lock. Our staff does not have keys to tenant units. For added security, all access is recorded via our 24/7 video surveillance systems.
